Brislington FC Launch Women's Team

Brislington FC is delighted to announce the launch of a senior Women’s Team, created through a joint partnership between Brislington FC and Brislington Juniors. The move brings senior women’s football under the Brislington FC crest and creates a clear pathway for girls progressing through Brislington Juniors into the adult game. Girls can begin their football journey at Brislington Juniors from the age of three through the Wildcats programme, before progressing through the club’s girls' teams all the way to Under-16 level. The introduction of the Brislington FC Women’s Team means there is now a genuine pathway from those first kicks of a football through to senior football.

The team previously played under the AFC Brislington crest, but following a reorganisation involving Brislington Juniors and Brislington FC, the Women’s Team will now represent Brislington FC as part of a clearer distinction between junior and adult football. Brislington has a proud history in the women’s game, having previously had a successful senior side representing the club. This partnership is about building on that history while creating a lasting structure for the future.

The Women’s Team will compete in Division One of the South West Regional Women’s Football League, playing at the sixth tier of the women’s football pyramid. Their home fixtures will take place across both the Junior and Senior sites, allowing younger players to watch senior football at the same places where they train and play themselves — and see where their own football journey could take them.

The ambition across both Brislington Juniors and Brislington FC is simple: to give every young player, whether boy or girl, the opportunity to progress through the club and ultimately into adult football without having to leave Brislington.

Speaking to our media team, Club Chairman Jack Rogers showed his excitement for this new venture:

“I’m incredibly proud that we’re able to welcome a women’s team back to Brislington Football Club.We’ve spoken for some time about our ambition to make Brislington a club that provides opportunities right across our community, and this is another important step towards that. With our First Team, Reserves, successful Under-18s programme and thriving junior section already representing the club, establishing Brislington FC Women means there is now a genuine pathway and a place at Brislington for players across the men’s and women’s game. This isn’t simply about adding another team. We want to build something sustainable, ambitious and successful that becomes an integral part of Brislington Football Club for many years to come. It’s an exciting moment for the club, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the team pull on a Brislington shirt and represent the Foxes.”

The sentiment was shared by Club Secretary of both clubs, Phil Wiltshire:

“For me, wearing the Secretary’s hat for both Brislington Juniors and Brislington FC, this is particularly important. At Brislington Juniors, girls can begin their football journey with us from just three years old through our Wildcats programme. From there, we have girls’ football running all the way through to Under-16s. We can now genuinely point to a complete pathway from those very first kicks of a football through to adult women’s football with Brislington FC.The same pathway exists for our boys too. The ambition across both clubs is the same: whether a boy or girl first joins us at the very beginning of their football journey, we want there to be an opportunity for them to progress through our junior age groups and ultimately into adult football with Brislington FC. Ultimately, we want every young player who joins Brislington to be able to look ahead and see where their football journey could take them, without feeling that they have to leave Brislington to take that next step. For our girls in particular, having a senior Women’s Team at Brislington FC makes that ambition very real – and we’re delighted to see women’s football once again represented at the club.”

This is an important step for both Brislington FC and Brislington Juniors, bringing the two clubs together to create a clearer and stronger pathway for the next generation of players.
